Fertility Friends Foundation advisory committee is composed of members who provide the Board of Directors with advice in support of the Organization’s strategies, policies and activities.
MEET OUR ADVISORY COMMITTEE
Fertility Friends Foundation has chosen individuals who bring unique knowledge and skills to the foundation and provide a more effective guide to the organization. Our Advisory Committee recommends and advises the Board of Directors on matters to improve opportunities for our grant recipients and the infertility community.
Nicole Condon
CEO Trio Fertility and Founder and CEO of EVOLVE Egg Freezing
Nicole is the Chief Executive Officer for TRIO Fertility and EVOLVE Egg Freezing Clinic. In this position, she is responsible for all day-to-day operations of the clinics, as well as the development and implementation of the strategic business plan.
Nicole has a Bachelor of Arts degree from York University, and an MBA from the prestigious Schulich School of Business in Toronto. She graduated with top marks. Prior to her position at TRIO Fertility, Nicole was COO of LifeQuest Centre for Reproductive Medicine for six years.
In 2014, Nicole was responsible for leading the decision-making activities for the clinical and administrative teams during the merger with TCART. This merger led to the establishment of TRIO Fertility. Working closely with the team from the former TCART, Nicole was instrumental in developing key goals and strategies for creating the new corporate culture at TRIO.
Nicole brings her personal commitment, business skills and extensive experience in the business of fertility medicine to her role, ensuring TRIO is an industry leader committed to innovation, patient-focused care, and a superior workplace environment.
Dr. Meivys Garcia
Dr. Meivys Garcia, a compassionate obstetrician, gynecologist, and fertility specialist, is deeply committed to providing exceptional and comprehensive care to her patients. With over a decade of experience, she has been a cherished member of Markham Fertility Centre since 2011, serving as the centers medical director and senior partner. Driven by a profound desire to shape the future of assisted reproduction in Canada, Dr.Garcia was recently elected to the Board of the Canadian Fertility and Andrology Society (CFAS). This esteemed position allows her to contribute her expertise and play a pivotal role in advancing the field, ensuring that patients receive the best possible care.
Recognizing the importance of advocacy and support for individuals facing fertility
challenges, Dr. Garcia also serves on the advisory board for Conceivable Dream, a renowned non-profit organization. Through her involvement, she actively contributes her expertise and insight to improve the experiences and outcomes of those on their fertility journeys. This commitment to supporting others highlights her dedication to the well-being and empowerment of patients navigating the complexities of fertility issues.
Dr. Garcias commitment to educating the public about all aspects of fertility is unwavering. As the co-host of the popular My Fertility Podcast and an active presence on Instagram, she uses these platforms to share her knowledge and provide valuable insights and support to those seeking guidance, empowering them with the information they need.
Emily Getz
Emily Getz is a Certified Fertility Mindset Coach, Neuro-linguistic Programming Practitioner, Podcaster, Advocate, Public Speaker, fellow fertility patient and founder of Day 1 Fertility a one-of-a-kind fertility support network.
In October 2019, Emily experienced the loss of her daughter, Ruby, during the six month of her second pregnancy. Emily was heartbroken and found herself searching for a community that she just could not find. She recognized a gap in support, education and coaching within the fertility industry. Feeling frustrated and isolated – though somehow inspired – after a decade as an executive in the PR industry, Emily left her career in the corporate world to start Day 1 Fertility.
Over the past 5 years, Emily has undergone years of fertility treatment trying for her second child, which includes multiple rounds of IVF, miscarriages, loss and more, all while building the community she always wanted and providing the resources she truly needed.
Mia Karmelic
Mia Karmelic, CFP, CFA, is an Executive Financial Consultant & Division Manager with IG Wealth Management. Mia has over 17 years of experience within the finance industry.
She works closely with individual and corporate clients to help develop and implement strategic financial plans with specific focus on tax efficient retirement and estate planning.
In addition to working closely with clients, she also coaches and mentors a team of financial advisors, guiding them with their own business growth and helping them enhance their client service offerings.
Mia holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Economics and Finance and has both her CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) and CFP (Certified Financial Planner) designations.
Dr. Chaula Mehta
Infertility Specialist/ Obstetrician and Gynecologist
Over the span of 25 years of medical practice, Dr. Mehta has witnessed the challenges patients may experience in achieving their reproductive goals. Her passion lies in helping individuals and couples grow and complete their family.
As a proud staff physician at TRIO Fertility serving North York and Downtown Toronto, she is thrilled to extend her services to the community of Mississauga and beyond. She is the CEO & Medical Director of Trio Fertility Mississauga which perfectly embodies her vision of a safe environment where patients not only receive exceptional medical care but also experience compassionate support throughout their entire fertility process.
She is a member of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC), American Society of Reproductive Medicine (ASRM), European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE), Canadian Fertility and Andrology Society (CFAS), Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists of Canada (SOGC), Ontario Medical Association as well as the Canadian Medical Association.
As an honoured member of the advisory committee of Fertility Friends Foundation, Dr Mehta embraces this opportunity to contribute to a remarkable charity that makes a positive impact and echoes her values of compassion.
Zach Shapiro
Zach Shapiro is the Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Twig Fertility. As CEO, Zach oversees the strategic direction, and overall operations at Twig, with the mission to redefine fertility care in Canada. Through his relentless pursuit to deliver a best-in-class patient experience for individuals and couples on their fertility journey, Zach has helped steer Twig towards becoming a beacon of hope for families across Canada.
Before stepping into the world of fertility and reproductive healthcare, Zach built a career in finance, where he worked in Institutional Equity Sales at Eight Capital. His professional background, combined with his personal dedication to helping others, has uniquely positioned him to navigate the complexities of the fertility space while maintaining a strong focus on the clinic’s growth and sustainability.
As a leader, Zach is dedicated to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for both patients and staff, ensuring that Twig continues to set new standards in fertility care. His commitment to excellence and innovation helps drive the best outcomes for patients and supports Twig’s ongoing success.
Olivier Tran
National Ad Agency
Olivier came to Canada from France in 1982 and obtained a BBA from Bishops University.
After starting his advertising career back in Paris and London, he moved back to Toronto where he became creative director at Worldwide agency networks such as Euro RSCG part of Havas based in Paris and Mac Laren Canada, part of IPG based in New York.
He has created ad campaigns for Fortune 100 global brands such as Microsoft, Adidas, Kraft, Johnson & Johnson, Porsche, Diageo, Pernod Ricard, Dell, Evian, Volvo, Coors, Pfizer etc.
He then started his own national ad agency where he was able to create unique bilingual and national campaigns for brands such as the Lycee Francais, Smuckers, Grand Marnier, Alliance Francaise.
For the past few years, he has used his 30 years of experience to advise, mentor and help charities and ethical startup brands that make a difference for people or the planet.
