I struggle for words to truly express the gratitude I have for the Fertility Friends Foundation. I am in awe of their generosity, empathy and compassion for those like me who yearn to become a parent.
Ever since my husband and I decided to turn a long distance friendship into a long distance relationship, we knew we’d have struggles ahead of us. We spent years overcoming one obstacle after another in order to be together and build a life for ourselves. With mountains of paperwork, red tape and fears of being separated behind us, we thought the worst was over and we could focus on us and our dream of a family.
But after 7 failed IUIs, one IVF and countless tests to see what was “wrong” with us, we started to lose hope and we became more lost and isolated. All that drive, excitment and determination we felt in the beginning was starting to leave us, our wills at their breaking point.
We didn’t know how much our emotions and finances could stretch before we called it quits.
Then we got the wonderful news that we had been chosen to receive a fertility grant, and I felt a weight lift off my shoulders. I couldn’t believe that we have been given another chance, one that would remove the financial burden and let us focus on our mental and physical wellbeing. For the first time in over a year, I can feel that energy again to fight for this.
Thank you so much to the wonderful staff, volunteers and donors of the Fertility Friends Foundation. You have given us so much hope for our future and we couldn’t be happier!
