A Steps Toward Our Family
Our journey to becoming parents begins with a decision that reshapes our entire lives: moving to Canada permanently. Leaving our families, our friends, and the familiar rhythm of Belgium was not easy. It carries emotion, complexity, and the sense of stepping into the unknown. And yet, beneath it all, there is a deep sense of purpose — we know exactly why we are here: to build the family we dream of.
Tony and I have been together for four years, and from the very beginning, our relationship has been shaped by intention. His world of architecture and mine in fashion both teach us to imagine what does not yet exist, to sketch, to design, to shape futures. In many ways, this move feels like an extension of that shared philosophy. We are laying the foundation for the life we want to create.
Arriving in Canada opens a new chapter for us. This country offers the space, practical and emotional, to grow into the parents we hope to become. Step by step, our path becomes clearer. We turn toward surrogacy with openness and trust, understanding that our family might take a slightly different form, but knowing it will be ours, deeply and beautifully.
This journey teaches us patience, resilience, and tenderness. It asks us to be both vulnerable and brave at the same time. And along the way, moments of generosity make an indelible impact. Being selected by Friends Fertility Funds is one of them. Their support brings warmth, encouragement, and reassurance at a moment when it means so much. It reminds us that our story is seen and celebrated, and that kindness exists at every step of this journey.
As we continue building our life in Canada, choice by choice, day by day, we feel grounded, hopeful, and profoundly grateful. Our journey unfolds with intention, love, and quiet optimism. And we cannot wait for the day we welcome our little one into the home and future we are creating together.
