We are deeply honored and grateful to be the first recipients in Alberta to receive the Fertility Friends Foundation Grant.

To us, this is more than just financial support; it is a symbol of hope and support of the community in our journey to build a family.

I grew up in Southwest Saskatchewan (farm girl) and my husband, Stuart is from northern England. Stu and I met online in July 2016 while he was serving in the British Army & was stationed in Alberta. Stu ended up retiring from the Army in 2017 and stayed in Canada with me.  We married in 2018 & welcomed Winston (our chocolate lab) to our home.

We were referred to a fertility clinic in 2018 at that time and it was identified that we would need to use an egg donor. Shortly after I became ill with an unknown heart condition.

Over the past five years we have been able to get my health back to the point where we feel comfortable moving forward to build our family. Since my health change, it’s been decided it’s best for us to have help from a surrogate.

We are now in our late 40’s and feeling motivated to move forward with starting our (well overdue) family.

It is an honor to be the first recipients in Alberta to be awarded this wonderful grant from Fertility Friends Foundation. It is very comforting to know that strangers have heard our story and that they believe in us.

We are humbled by the kind generosity and support that will help us in our journey to finally becoming a complete family.

Thank you, Fertility Friends Foundation, for your kindness, generosity, and for giving us the opportunity to fulfill our dream of expanding our family.
